11 Mar 2021: Harry Styles will open Grammys 2021 with his performance
English singer-songwriter Harry Styles will open this year's Grammy Awards with his gig, Variety reports.
Styles, who is nominated for three awards, will kick-off the Grammy Awards performances on March 14 (coming Sunday), being held at Los Angeles Convention Center.
Meanwhile, comedian and The Daily Show host Trevor Noah will be hosting the biggest night of the music industry.
Some taped performances will also feature.
Performaces: Taylor Swift, BTS, Billie Eilish, and many more are performing
This year's ceremony has been tailored to respect the pandemic conditions.
Besides Styles, artists such as Taylor Swift, BTS, Dua Lipa, Doja Cat, Cardi B, Billie Eilish, Megan Thee Stallion, Bad Bunny, Post Malone, John Mayer, DaBaby, Miranda Lambert, Maren Morris, etc. will be performing this year.
For an audience starved for live performances, the line-up comes as a relief.
Statement: We've got Harry Styles at the top: CBS Executive
CBS Executive Jack Sussman told Variety, "You don't want to miss the top of the show. It's going to be music coming at you heavy and hard like you've not seen before. We've got Harry Styles, this incredible entertainer, at the top of the show."
About BTS, the K-pop group taking the world by storm, he said, "They'll get you up on your feet in your living room."
Nominations: Beyoncé leading the Grammys pack this year
The BLACK PARADE hitmaker Beyoncé is leading the Grammy Awards nominations with nine nods.
Interestingly, she didn't even release an album in 2020 but is on her way to create Grammys history as the most awarded artist ever, if she wins eight of the nine awards.
Musicians Taylor Swift and Dua Lipa are right behind Beyoncé with six nods each.
Complaints: Meanwhile, not everyone is happy with the Grammys
Recently, Styles's former One Direction colleague and singer Zayn Malik called out the Grammys and said, "Unless you shake hands and send gifts, there's no nomination considerations (sic)."
Separately, The Weeknd, who got zero nominations, had tweeted, "The Grammys remain corrupt," adding that the organizers owe him and his fans transparency.
In November, artist Halsey had said, "The Grammys are an elusive process. (sic)"
