It has been a while since one saw Harshvardhan Rane on the big screen. The actor, who has been a part of several films down South, made his Hindi film debut with the romantic drama ‘Sanam Teri Kasam’, a film which did quite well on the home video and satellite circuit. A couple of songs (Himesh Reshammiya) from the Radhika Rao – Vinay Sapru directed film are popular till date and enjoy good airtime on television.
As far as the Hindi film terrain is concerned, the actor was last seen in J.P Dutta’s war-drama ‘Paltan’. Since then, he has been seen in a film (‘Kavacham’) down South, it has been close to two years since he had a Bollywood release to his name. Well as things stand, the actor is all stage to make his presence felt all over the industry in a big way this year with two important releases.
The actor will be seen as one of the leads in director Bejoy Nambiar’s ‘Taish’. The film, which also stars Pulkit Samrat, Kriti Kharbanda, Jim Sarbh and Zoa Morani in principal roles, is an action-drama and has been shot extensively in the UK. The character which Harshvardhan plays in the film is said to be very intense and the actor will be seen enacting some heavy-duty stunt sequences in the film. A couple of years back, Harshvardhan was supposed to feature in the official remake of Mani Ratnam’s Tamil film which was to be directed by Bejoy itself. Though that project did not take off, the two of them have collaborated on ‘Taish’.
The second film, which he will be seen in this year, is ‘Haseen Dilruba’. The film, touted to be a mystery thriller, is being directed by Vinil Mathew (‘Hasee Toh Phasee’) and is being produced by Aanand L Rai’s Color Yellow Productions and Eros International. The film was announced with Taapsee Pannu and Vikrant Massey and Harshvardhan’s inclusion into the cast was announced just recently. Given the genre of the film, there is utmost secrecy about the plot of the film and hence, not much is known about the character Rane will be seen portraying in the film.
With two interesting films, in two completely different genres, 2020 seems to be a promising year for the young actor.
