Home and Away fans typically can't get enough of the soap's season finales, because, well usually, they're jam-packed full of drama.

Its most recent one, however, left them feeling disappointed.

In the episode, which was promised to end on a cliffhanger, the show teased the possibility of a new romance for Jasmine, offered viewers a glimpse at Kieran's dark past, saw Ziggy and Tane share a passionate night together, and left Colby's future uncertain as he was approached by dangerous inmates in prison.

It may sound like a lot to cram in but when those who have watched for years are used to shock departures, car crashes or deadly explosions, it's understandable that they felt it was a little lacklustre.

"I feel like the finale should have been a few weeks ago when Willow was found to be Witness X! That was more exciting.. can't say it was much of a 'cliff hanger' really," one fan wrote underneath a farewell post on the series' official Instagram page.

"Disappointing finale, I saw the cliffhanger that happened at the end in the promo for the finale. Was just like a normal episode of Home and Away," another added, as a third said: "The worse season finale, boring and disappointing with no cliffhanger."

"WHAT THE HELL WAS THAT," one fan wrote, as another asked aloud: "Where was the cliffhanger???"

"The best part was what happened with Willow [Witness X] the other week, it should of ended on that," one more argued, echoing an earlier point.

Home and Away returns to Channel 5 (UK) in January. The show airs on Channel 7 in Australia.
