After Maruti and Hyundai, Honda wants to jump onto the EV bandwagon, or so it seems. Earlier this year, we saw a Honda Jazz EV being tested and that set tongues wagging about a possible EV launch from Honda. The Jazz Electric would be a perfect bet though, as being a rather big premium hatch, it would bode well with Indian car buyers — provided it is priced well.
Of course, the car maker has not said committed to anything regarding its speculated entry into the EV space, but it is something that every manufacturer is likely to get into.
The Honda Jazz EV is rumoured to have an almost 300-km range. For its India ambitions, Honda would also need to look into some important parts (like the battery/motor) to meet cost requirements. Honda, if indeed it decides to bring an EV to India, would also want to make the styling more distinctive to flaunt its EV credentials — on the lines of the ‘Fit’ EV (as it is called overseas) shown in the photo.
Getting the right mix of the price, range and features is perhaps the biggest challenge for any car-maker, but the Honda Jazz EV, even if it is priced a bit on the higher side, may still have some takers.
So, would you rather buy a fully-loaded Honda City sedan, or get a Jazz EV for the same price? Do let us know in the comments section.
