Entering into hurricane season is nerve-wracking to say the least. And for those living in hurricane-prone areas, it’s especially important to think ahead.

Today only, two items necessary for hurricane preparedness are seeing steep price drops: surge protectors and dehumidifiers.

While it’s a random pairing, shopping as you see sales is a smart move—particularly when a storm could be closer than you think.

Surge Protectors

In any critical situation, keeping communication devices safe and sound is key. Surge protectors prevent voltage spikes from damaging your electronics.

Per CyberPower, “Surge protectors are the first line of defense against the unpredictable forces of severe weather.” When bad weather hits, the last thing you want to worry about is not having a phone or computer for updates and information.

It’s a good idea to have surge protectors regardless of the season, since they can protect your devices from unusual energy levels that can arise from average thunderstorms and lightening strikes.

If a storm caused flooding in your home, you’ll need a dehumidifier to protect yourself and your belongings. Moisture can cause mold growth and slowly damage things like electronic devices, furniture, photographs and books. Dehumidifiers take moisture from the air—according to the EPA, indoor humidity should range from 30 to 60 percent to minimize the likelihood of mold.
