ICC Test Rankings: Kane Williamson Retains Top Spot, Virat Kohli Continues Second While Rahane And Ashwin In Top 10.

With the end of the year, ICC Test Rankings got updated and turns to be little bit surprising with the Kane Williamson; who is scoring tons of runs against Pakistan in an ongoing Test Series has got his way to the top spot in batting column. Indian skipper Virat Kohli continues his number 2 position while Steven Smith who is struggling to score runs is now on the third spot.

Williamson contributed 129 runs in the recent Test Match at Bay Oval against Pakistan. The inning took New Zealand to win the match one handed. Ajinkya Rahane who is now the seasonal skipper of India in the absence of Virat Kohli has made progress in ICC rankings. He is now on the sixth number with the hundred scored in the Boxing Day Test Match against Australia.

Pujara lose two spots and is now on the 10th position from 8th. While Test Player of the Decade award winner Steven Smith lose his top spot with the poor form in the series against India till now. Smith will look forward to score big runs in the remaining two Tests. Both Pujara and Smith haven’t showed their classical performances till now.

In the bowling department Ashwin and Bumrah are progressing towards top spots. They are on the 6th and 9th numbers respectively. Both are the India’s senior bowlers and only reliable bowling options in the absence of Ishant Sharma, Mohammad Shami and Umesh Yadav due to injuries. Bumrah and Ashwin showed expected results in the Australian Test series till now; both took 8 and 10 wickets respectively.
