During an interview with a leading online portal, Arjun said, “Everyone thinks of me as some kind of brooding, detached soul. Somehow, my body of work (for the initial part of it) and my physicality have contributed to this character sketch. My first film was Ishaqzaade (2012) and for a 25-year-old, that was a pretty grim debut. Come to think of it, the first few films of my career— Aurangzeb (2013) and Gunday (2014)—had a very dark vibe and that has lingered on, but I’m not a dark, messed-up soul that I’m made out to be. Once you get to know me, I’m like every other guy—just with fantastic bad boy stubble.”
Arjun Kapoor, who is a son of top producer Boney Kapoor, chose to find a launch vehicle that wasn’t helmed by his father. He said, “At that time, it wasn’t a good or bad thing to be launched by your father in a film. But I didn’t want to take the easy way out and I wanted to get work on my own [merit]. It’s not like I was lazing at home and told my father, ‘OK, I’m going to tell Aditya Chopra to launch me’. I did spend time meeting people and trying to land auditions.”
“Film family or not, what you choose to do for a living stems from where your passion lies. Though personally, I never looked beyond cinema. My sister, on the other hand, is not passionate about the same things as I am career-wise. We’re two sides of a coin, with different aspirations and passions,” he added.
On the work front, Arjun was last seen in Mubarakan, which did a decent performance at the box office. The movie also starred Anil Kapoor, Ileana D’Cruz and Athiya Shetty in lead roles.
