In the second Test match of India tour of Australia, the Aussies won the toss and chose to bat. After 25 overs, Australia 65/3, Mathew Wade, (30), Marnus Labuschage (26*), Ravichandran Ashwin 2/17. India owns the first session as they manage to take three Aussie wickets by just conceding 65 runs in 27 overs at the run rate of 2.41.

Australia had a shaky start to their first innings as Joe Burns faced difficulties while facing the quick deliveries by Bumrah and Umesh Yadav. India got an early breakthrough in the form of Burns who was sent back to the pavilion on a duck in the fifth over when the opener was caught behind the stumps on Bumrah’s bowling. Wade couldn’t build a partnership with the number three batsman and fell prey to Ravichandran Ashwin in the 13th over of the match.

Australia’s most reliable Test batsman Steven Smith dismissed on an eight ball duck by Ashwin when the batsman was caught at the leg slip by Cheteshwar Pujara. This is the first time since Perth 2016, Smith has been dismissed without scoring a run. Amidst the fall of wickets, Labuschagne is hanging there in the middle to give a confident start to his team in the first inning of the second Test match while Smith’s departure brings Travis Head to the strike.
