India’s prime pacer Jasprit Bumrah has been ruled out of the 4th Test match between Indian and Australia due to an abdominal strain, PTI reported. The fourth Test will be played at Brisbane from January 15. Bumrah reportedly picked up the injury during the third Test match at Sydney.

India lost their experienced pacers Bumrah, Mohammed Shami and Umesh Yadav during the on-going bilateral Test series against the Aussies. Ishant Sharma was ruled out before the Test series due to an injury which he picked up in the IPL 2020. The 27-year-old pacer’s injury was salt on the wound as the visiting team also lost Ravindra Jadeja and Hanuma Vihari who got injured in the Sydney Test. The current team is also fighting against the Aussies on their turf without their regular skipper and one of the best batsman in the world Virat Kohli.

Bumrah played a crucial role in levelling the series 1-1 against the Aussies. The yorker specialist pocketed 11 wickets at an average of 29.36. The pacer was looking good in Sydney but looked out of luck. Bumrah took two wickets in the first innings, in the second innings, the bowler created a couple of chances but the catches were dropped. Vihari dropped Marnus Labuschagne’s catch in the first over of Day 4 on Bumrah’s bowling. Bumrah was able to register a wicket in the second innings when he got rid of the dangerous Cameron Green who was counter-attacking the Indian bowlers before they declared the innings. Mohammed Siraj might have to take the responsibility of leading India’s bowling line-up in his debut Test series in the absence of Bumrah.
