India will be missing the services of KL Rahul for the last two Test matches of the series against Australia, as confirmed by the BCCI. The right-handed batsman suffered an injury to his wrist while batting in the nets and will be returning to India.
The 28-year-old wasn’t picked for the first two Test matches against Australia. Considering opener Mayank Agarwal’s poor form, Rahul might have played in the third Test at Sydney, which will commence from Thursday.
According to the latest update, KL Rahul will return to India and will head to the National Cricket Academy in Bengaluru for his rehabilitation.
It was speculated that KL Rahul could get a chance in the middle order after Virat Kohli’s departure, but the Indian team management went with Ravindra Jadeja instead. All-rounder Jadeja’s inclusion proved beneficial as team India registered a comprehensive eight-wicket victory in Melbourne, the southpaw contributed with both bat and ball.
Rahul made his international debut against the Aussies in the 2014-15 series, since then he played nine Tests. Rahul scored 580 runs at an average of 38.67, with a century and six fifties.
