India Vs Australia Second Test Day 2: Rahane Bats Through Second Session Amidst The Fall Of Wickets

In the second Test match of India tour of Australia, the Aussies won the toss and chose to bat. After 63.3 overs, day 2, second Session, second Innings, India 189/5, Ajinkya Rahane (53*)Shubman Gill (45), Rishabh Pant (29), Mitchell Starc (2/35). The second session of the day belonged to India, the visitors scored 99 runs in 26.3 overs with the loss of three wickets at the run rate of 3.74. India trail Australia by 6 runs at tea.

Ajinkya Rahane and Hanuma Vihari commenced the second session for the Indian team, the two batsmen conjured 52 runs for the fourth wicket partnership. Vihari fell prey to Nathan Lyon when the batsman tried to sweep but the extra bounce leads to a top edge of gloves which was caught by Steven Smith. The all-rounder’s dismissal brought Rishabh Pant to the crease, the Indian wicket-keeper and skipper formed a 57 run partnership for the fifth wicket. Pant edged the ball to Tim Paine when he tried to cut Mitchell Starc on a delivery which was too close to his body.

Rahane and Jadeja finished the session with the bat for India. Starc and Lyon grabbed one wicket each in the second session of day 2. In the second session, 26.3 overs were bowled, 99 runs were scored with two wickets at the run rate of 3.74 runs per over.
