Indian Vice-Captain Ajinkya Rahane Arrives In Chennai Along With Rohit Sharma And Shardul Thakur For England Tests

Indian Test vice-captain Ajinkya Rahane, medium-pacer Shardul Thakur and opener Rohit Sharma reached Chennai on Tuesday for their upcoming bilateral Test series against England. The trio flew in from Mumbai and proceeded towards the hotel where players from both the teams will be put into a bio-bubble.

The Indian skipper Virat Kohli and other team players are scheduled to arrive in Chennai on Wednesday. The English players Ben Stokes, Jofra Archer, and Moeen Ali have already reached Chennai.

The England captain Joe Root and rest of the teammates who are playing a Test series in Sri Lanka are scheduled to touch down in the city on Wednesday.

India and England players will have to undergo a six-day quarantine period as well as COVID-19 testing. According to a report, BCCI has made it clear that players who test negative for COVID-19, only those can stay in the bio-bubble.

“Members of the two teams will be put up at Hotel Leela Palace along with match officials. They will be under quarantine for six days and are likely to start practice from February 2,” India’s squad liaison officer told PTI.

England will be touring India for 4 Test matches, 3 ODIs and 5 T20Is. The first two Tests will be played in Chennai and the last two will take place in Ahmedabad. India will be hosting their first international bilateral series since January 2020.
