2020 turned out to be good for Saif Ali Khan as Tanhaji broke all the rules of the box office and the actor got immense praise for his performance. Will Jawaani Jaaneman bring back the charm of the actor who once scored hits with films like Hum Tum and Salaam Namaste ?
Tanhaji The Unsung Warrior was released on 10th January when it clashed with the much popular Deepika Padukone starrer Chhapaak. The historical drama was superb in its box office run as it received the favorable reviews from the audience for its enthralling content, powerful performance and brilliant story which helped the film earn the first week collections with Rs 118.91 crore while the second and third week ended with a bang minting Rs 78.54 crore and Rs 40.42 crore, summing up the total to Rs 237.87
Saif Ali Khan has been known to experiment with meatier roles though he has never been a box office champ. His last solo release, Laal Kaptaan, was a disaster and Jaawani Jaaneman will be an acid test for the actor.
The good news is that audience have loved the trailer of the comedy drama and the songs have made some sort of impact with the youth. The early reviews have been good and with last two releases – Panga and Street Dance 3D, failing at the box office, Jawani Janeman has some chance to connect with the multiplex janta. Saif Ali Khan has again gained audience trust, thanks to his wonderful performance in the first blockbuster of 2020, Tanhaji and Jawani Janeman can bring back his lost charm, which he once gained with films like Hum Tum and Salaam Namaste.
As per early estimates, Jaawani Jaaneman has opened to a poor response with just 10-15% but is better than his last film, Laal Kaptaan. If the movie shows growth towards the end of the day, the collections for the first day might end up between Rs 1.5-2 crore. Jaawani Jaaneman is directed by Nitin Kakkar who previously made Filmistaan, Mitron and The Notebook. The comedy drama also stars Tabu in key role.
