Ashtami date of the Krishna Paksha of Ashwin month. It is also called Jiutia or Jitiya Vrat. Jivitputrika Vrat keeps mothers for their children. On this day, mothers fast for the son's long, healthy and happy life. Like Chhath festival, there is a tradition of bathing on Jitiya fast. This festival is celebrated for three days. On Naptha Tithi on Saptami Tithi, on Ashtami Tithi, women observe fast for the prosperity and progress of children. After this, fasting is done on Navami Tithi i.e. next day i.e. the fast is opened.
