Every year, on the eighth day of the Krishna Paksha of Ashwin month, Jeevaputrika fasts. It is also called Jiutia or Jitiya Vrat. Mothers keep the Jitiya fast for a long, healthy and happy life for their children. On Jitiya fast, there is a tradition of bathing and eating like Chhath Puja. This year Jitiya fast will be observed on 10 September. Which is celebrated on Navami Tithi i.e. next day. Today, on Saptami Tithi i.e. 9th September, Jeevaputrika fast will begin with Nahay-Khaye. Today, mothers will complete the tradition of bathing and eating.
