Kamal Haasan Declares, "I Am Quitting Acting"

Kamal Haasan, who recently formed his party Makkal Needhi Maiam, was in the city last week to promote his film Vishwaroop 2. In an EXCLUSIVE INTERVIEW with SpotboyE.com at Sun-n-Sand (Juhu), we asked the 63-year-old star-cum-politician if he would be ready to join hands with any other party just in case a coalition government has to be formed in the Lok Sabha Elections 2019? Haasan replied, “Anything to save the state, but it has to be honest, it cannot be any opportunity. I’m not an opportunist, I’m an optimist. Things can be done, and they can be done with intent and honesty. It may not be the best policy in the present environment. It’s a great luxury, very few people can afford it, I want to afford it.”

During the chat, Haasan also said that he wants to move on to politics fully as he 'wants to do something worthwhile for the common man'. Consequently, he will shift his focus and kiss goodbye to acting. This is indeed sad news:  the senior star has a huge fan following and they are going to feel terribly let down. Haasan explained his reason for the drastic decision taken, at length. He seemed very confident that he is on the right track. Will he miss the arclights? HERE'S THE INTERVIEW IN VIDEO:

Haasan also spoke about Sridevi, Janhvi Kapoor and Boney Kapoor. Apparently, he is quite close to the Kapoor family. The star did not shy away from speaking about his daughters Shruti and Akshara too.

Vishwaroopam II

Vishwaroopam II (titled Vishwaroop II in Hindi) releases simultaneously tomorrow, it has been made in Tamil and Hindi and dubbed in Telugu & Malayalam. Written and directed by Kamal Haasan, it is a circumquel (happens partly before and after the former film's end) to Vishwaroopam (2013) and features himself alongside Rahul Bose, Shekhar Kapur, Pooja Kumar and Andrea Jeremiah, reprising their roles.  While the first film was set in the United States, Vishwaroopam II is set to take place in India. Produced by Venu Ravichandran in Tamil, the film is also being produced by Ekta Kapoor and Shobha Kapoor in Hindi as Vishwaroop II. Initially planned as a late 2013 release, the film was stuck in development hell and was revived only in April 2017 as Kamal Haasan himself took over as producer.
