Karan Johar Never Bid For Master Remake; Source Says He Is 'Not Interested In Remakes'- EXCLUSIVE

·1-min read

The news report that producer Murad Khetani has bought the Hindi remake rights of the new Tamil Vijay starrer Master for a certain amount, is only half-true. While it is true that Murad Khetani has bought the remake rights of Master, the report that Khetani beat Karan Johar to the ‘honour” is purely marketing manufacture.

Put plainly, Karan Johar was never interested in buying the remake of rights of Master.

“He is not into remakes of Southern films right now. He is only interested in doing originals, even with South Indian superstars. Karan’s Liger (formerly titled Fighter) which will launch Telugu superstar Vijay Deverakonda into Bollywood is an original script and not a remake,” says a source close to Karan.

As per an online report that came out earlier it stated that Karan Johar was also in the bid. But Khetani offered more money and hence gained the rights to the remake. A source close to the development had earlier said, “Karan Johar was also trying to get the rights to make Master in Hindi. He was trying really hard but when Murad got a hang of it, he quietly raised his price and bagged the deal.”

Master stars Vijay Sethupathi and Thalapathy Vijay in the lead.
