Alia, Katrina Donate to PM-CARES Fund and Maha CM’s Relief Fund

Like their colleagues in the Hindi film industry, Alia Bhatt and Katrina Kaif have pledged to make donations to the PM-CARES Fund and the Maharashtra Chief Minister’s Relief Fund.

Although they have not mentioned the amount, the actors took to their individual Instagram pages and revealed they will be donating to both the relief funds.

“I pledge to donate to the PM CARES fund and the Chief Minister's Relief Fund Maharashtra. Heartbreaking to see the hardship and suffering this pandemic has unleashed in the world,” Katrina captioned her post.

While Narendra Modi instituted the PM-CARES fund for any coronavirus-like disasters that might happen in the future, Uddhav Thackeray, chief minister of Maharashtra founded the CM-Relief fund specifically for mitigating coronavirus cases.

Alia Bhatt posted the announcement on the stories section of her Instagram page. The post reads: “At a time of great difficulty, while the nation is in lockdown, the central and state government are working tirelessly to combat COVID-19. I salute the efforts of all those on the frontlines who are putting themselves at risk so the rest of us stay safe. I also pledge contributions to thr PM-CARES Fund and the chief minister’s relief fund (Maharashtra) as a gesture of my support.”

Katrina has been sharing several posts on how she is spending her time during isolation. In an earlier post made on 21 March, she urged people to help contain the spread of coronavirus by staying at home and following the guidelines issued by the state government. She also asked people to refrain from using public transport.

Akshay Kumar was among the first ones from the industry to make a donation to the PM-CARES Fund.He donated a whopping Rs 25 Crore towards the fund. Kartik Aaryan and T-Series have each donated Rs 1 Crore. Varun Dhawan and Badshah donated Rs 30 Lakhs and Rs 25 Lakhs respectively. Bhumi Pednekar made a pledge to donate without reveling the amount.
