The former Coronation Street star – who revealed last month her dad David has been diagnosed with incurable prostate cancer after delaying going for a check-up during the coronavirus pandemic – said planning her third wedding has helped give him hope.
Marsh, 45, told OK! magazine: "It’s given Dad a little focus and something to look forward to. He’s going to be there to walk me down the aisle and he’s determined that that’s going to be the case."
The former Hear'Say singer is planning a military themed wedding to British army Major Ratcliff, 33.
And though he only just proposed on her birthday on 13 June, Marsh revealed Ratcliff has already booked their wedding venue for later this year after surprising her with the engagement.
She said: "We’ve already booked it! Scott went away and did it all.”
Marsh revealed the wedding will be military themed and promised it will be "stunning".
And she has already chosen her dress.
The Pure and Simple singer said: "It’s probably not what people may have expected me to have gone for. It’s not black, so don’t worry."
She is mother to David, 26, and Emilie, 23, from a previous relationship and Polly, 10, and Archie – who tragically passed away minutes after being born in 2009 – with ex-husband Jamie Lomas.
Ratcliff is father to six-year-old daughter Renée and Marsh became a grandmother in 2019 when daughter Emilie gave birth to a baby boy.
Speaking previously about her father's cancer diagnosis Marsh revealed it has spread to his pelvis, spine, ribs and left leg.
She said: “At this stage doctors are talking about it being incurable, but it is treatable and the hope is that they may be able to extend his life - but by how much, nobody really knows, and he is in discomfort.”
