After Afsos, in which he played a twisted character who wishes to commit suicide, Gulshan Devaiah will be seen in another show on Amazon Prime Video. The yet-untitled show is being helmed by Reema Kagti (Honeymoon Travels Pvt. Ltd., Talaash and Gold) and is touted to be a thriller. The show is currently being shot and is expected to be out on the streaming platform towards the end of the year. For Gulshan, this is quite a special project as it enabled him to fulfil his long-time dream of playing a police officer.

Talking about the same, he says, “I feel fortunate enough to have got the opportunity to play a wide range of characters in my career. I have played positive and likeable characters, negative parts and ones with grey shades. Each of these projects allowed me to present something new and unique to the audience. However, I had never got the chance to play a police officer until this project came along. It was a long-time dream and I am glad it finally happened.”

Apart from Gulshan, the show features Sonakshi Sinha, Vijay Verma and Sohum Shah in principal roles. Sonakshi will be making her debut in the digital space with this one. She joins the ranks of actors like Saif Ali Khan and Abhishek Bachchan (plays a leading part in the upcoming ‘Breathe 2’) who have made a transition from films to web and now, seem comfortable working across both the mediums.

When asked about the growth of the digital space and how it is attracting leading actors from films, he says, “I think this is something you have to ask them. I guess it is the content which is being made in this space is attracting them towards this medium. Even Reema (Kagti) has made films earlier. There are certain kind of stories which cannot be told in three hours and need a longer arc. We have the opportunity to tell such long-format stories in the form of a series on the web which also gives a lot of freedom to these filmmakers.”

Apart from this show, Gulshan has a Kannada film co-starring Anant Nag and the Hindi film Hinterland, in which he shares the screen with Manoj Bajpayee, in the pipeline.
