Coronation Street actress Lucy Fallon has opened up about having “negative thoughts” about her body.

Fallon, who plays the role of Bethany Platt in the ITV soap, decided to use her official Instagram page to speak openly and candidly about her struggles.

Next to a picture of herself, the young actress wrote: “For the past few months, I have been really really battling with the negative thoughts my head constantly produces about my body.

“I look at pics on Instagram and I automatically start comparing every part of myself to that picture. It’s ridiculous. And it seems like all I have to do is look at a burger these days and feel like I’ve put on 10 stone.”

Calling for everyone to be kinder to themselves and each other, Fallon continued to comment: “I will eat a kit kat if I feel like it and maybe I will order 2 takeaways in a week but I refuse to let anyone make me feel shitty about it.

“Own what you’ve got and love it because I think we know all too well that life is short and precious. Eat that burger babe x and enjoy it x”

Her statement received praise from her fans and followers who thanked her for being so honest.

“So so so many people needed to hear this, love you so much,” wrote one fan.

While another commented: “I love this just what I needed thank you.”

“Well said Lucy!! Life is for living,” a third user of the picture sharing site added.

Meanwhile, Fallon recently admitted that she doesn’t know what she will do once she leaves Coronation Street.

In an interview with the Mirror, she said: “I don’t know what I want to do after the show. People like Suranne Jones have gone off to do amazing things so that’s the dream.

“I’d like to stay in TV but I am under no illusions about what might happen. It’s exciting that is even a possibility for me.”
