It was Danny Trejo to the rescue.

The tough-guy actor from Machete and Heat sprang into action Wednesday in Sylmar, Calif., after two cars collided and one overturned. The 75-year-old reportedly crawled into the wreckage of the flipped car and worked with a female bystander to get a special-needs child freed from his car seat and out of the car.

Trejo told news reporters in a post shared to his social media that one car ran a red light and collided with a car carrying a grandma and a baby and it flipped. The driver was pinned in her seat and asked Trejo and the bystander to “get the baby.” He climbed in and had trouble with the car seat buckle, so the bystander unclipped the belt from the other side, Trejo grabbed the child and brought him to safety.

In an interview with ABC 7 in Los Angeles, the actor said he quickly realized that the boy had special needs, so he gave him some extra care while firefighters used equipment to free the grandmother from the driver’s seat.

“I kept him facing away from the accident and just kept talking to him,” Trejo said.

"He was panicked. I said OK, we have to use our superpowers,” Trejo recounted. “So he screamed 'superpowers' and we started yelling 'superpowers. I said do this, with the muscles. He said 'muscles.' ... We got kind of a bond.”

The Los Angeles Fire Department told the news outlet that three people were transported to a hospital. Luckily, there were no life-threatening injuries.

Trejo, who owns two food businesses in addition to his acting work, told the reporter that he helped out because "Everything good that has happened to me has happened as a direct result of helping someone else. Everything.”

He also urged people to “Pay attention” on the road and added that “the only thing that saved that little kid was his car seat. Honest to God."

Trejo’s post about the accident has tons of likes and lots of praise, including from Nick Cannon who called Trejo a “true hero.”
