After a good first week, the Riteish Deshmukh and Sidharth Malhotra starrer Marjaavaan dropped on its second Friday facing competition from John Abraham starrer Pagalpanti and Hollywood film Frozen 2.
The Milap Zaveri directed Marjaavan started off well in the first weekend with Rs 24.42 crore. Marjaavaan did well over the weekdays, ending the first week collections with Rs 37.87 crore.
Marjaavaan faced a big competition from the multi-starrer film, Pagalpanti, and Hollywood film, Frozen 2, which dominated the box office yesterday and dropped by almost 50-60%, bringing Rs 1-1.50 crore. The masala entertainment is now standing at the 8 days total of Rs 38-39 crore and still has a long way to go to cross its budget.
Marjaavaan tells the story of Raghu and Zoya whose lives turns upside when a local gang lord enters their life. Marjaavaan is being backed by Nikhil Advani, Madhu Bhojwani and Monisha Advani of Emmay Entertainment. The masala entertainment is estimated to be made on a budget of Rs 50 crore (Production Cost: 40 Crore, Prints & Advertising Cost: 10 Crore)
