Marjaavaan gave a new lease of life to Sidharth Malhotra’s career and now with, Shershaah he is ready to be seen once again in an action avatar…

Since ‘Kapoor & Sons’, which released in 2016, Sidharth Malhotra has not had a commercial success. Yes, there was a genuinely well-crafted film like ‘Ittefaq’ which brought in some acclaim and he tried to experiment with roles by stepping into films like ‘Aiyaary’ and ‘Jabariya Jodi’ which gave him the scope to do something different but none of these films, unfortunately, managed to get the cash registers ringing. The tide finally turned with ‘Marjaavaan’, his last release.

In the Milap Milan Zaveri directed film, he got to don an avatar which the audience had not seen him in before. There were flashes of what one had seen him doing in ‘Ek Villain’ or ‘Brothers’ but Raghu was a character which Sidharth had never really played before. Sidharth has a very suave, sophisticated image off-screen and that reflects in the majority of the roles he has played till date. Playing a street-side thug with a heart which beats for the girl he is in love with is not something that would have come naturally to him but the actor rose up to the challenge and the result was a role and a film which gave him a lot to cheer about.

Now, the actor is gearing up for his next big-screen appearance which is going to be ‘Shershaah’, a film based on the life of Kargil war-hero Captain Vikram Batra. The first-look posters of the film, featuring Sidharth, were unveiled recently and they have definitely made a good impression. Sidharth has the persona, in terms of built, of an army man. He did play one in ‘Aiyaary’ but this time around, he has a bigger responsibility on his shoulder as he would be portraying a real-life soldier on the screen.

The team associated with the film also adds to one’s expectations. ‘Shershaah’ has been directed by Vishnuvardhan, a filmmaker who has several successful Tamil films to his credit and has been co-produced by Dharma Productions whom Sidharth has worked on a number of films starting from his debut film ‘Student Of The Year’.

The audience liked seeing Sidharth in an action avatar in ‘Ek Villain’ and now with ‘Shershaah’, one looks forward to see how he is presented in an action-oriented role all over again. Of course, ‘Shershaah’ cannot be compared to any of the earlier films he has been associated with. Being the biopic of a late war-hero, one expects patriotic fervour and emotions in the film, apart from action. This should be a good combination indeed if presented well onto the screen.
