From Masaan to Mirzapur, Actor Shweta Tripathi Looks to Create a Difference with her Characters

"I don't like the term heroine," says actor Shweta Tripathi who has gained prominence with her endearing screen presence and distinct characters on screen. Starting her career with Disney Channel’s television show 'Kya Mast Hai Life' in 2009, Shweta's breakthrough role came in 'Masaan' (2015) for which she bagged the Zee Cine Award for Best Actress in a Supporting Role. Shweta had also traveled to Cannes Film festival alongside the other members of the film as 'Masaan' was screened in the Un Certain Regard section at the 2015 Cannes Film Festival. The film also won two awards at Cannes. There has been no looking back for Shweta ever since. Over the years, she has starred in critically acclaimed films such as 'Haraamkhor', 'Gone Kesh', and 'Mehandi Circus' (Tamil). Shweta has also successfully forayed into web space and has been part of popular series like 'TVF Tripling season 2,' 'Made in Heaven,' 'Laakhon Mein Ek season 2,' and 'Mirzapur.' Through her multifarious roles, Shweta has carved a niche for herself and her performances have won critics and audiences alike. Her characters like Dr. Shreya Pathare in 'Laakhon Mein Ek' and Golu Gupta in 'Mirzapur' garnered wide appreciation from the audience. Shweta also won the ITA award for Best Actress (web) in 2019 for her role in 'Laakhon Mein Ek.' The actor will soon be seen reprising her role of Golu Gupta in the highly anticipated 'Mirzapur' season 2.
