Both Akshay Kumar starrer Mission Mangal and John Abraham starrer Batla House showed good growth on fourth day, minting a very good amount on the Independence Day extended weekend at the box office.
Akshay Kumar should be on cloud nine as his latest film shattered the record at the box office this year after Kesari (Rs 156 crore) ad Mission Mangal became his highest opening film and even the highest opening weekend film taking advantages of two holidays – Independence Day and Rakhi on 15th August.
Mission Mangal opened to an excellent response in the morning show with occupancy rate 50-55% and picked up later in the evening and night shows, consolidating the first day opening with gigantic Rs 29.16 crore which is the second best opening of the year after Bharat. Due to Friday being a normal working day, Mission Mangal dropped to Rs 17.28 crore but picked up again on Saturday with Rs 23.58 crore.
As per early estimates, there was a very good growth on Sunday, collecting Rs 30.06 crore and bringing the 4 days total to Rs 100.08 crore. The budget of Mission Mangal is Rs 100 (Production Cost: Rs 32 Crore, Salary Cost: Rs 50 Crore, Prints & Advertising Cost: Rs 18 Crore).

John Abraham has successfully build action star image with patriotic films like Parmanu-The Story Of Pokhran, Satyameva Jayate and RAW (Romeo Akbar Walter). He is back with Batla House, which tells the true incident of the 2008 controversial encounter at Batla House in Delhi.
Batla House has opened to a good 20-25% occupancy in the morning shows across India but did well in the evening and night shows, touching Rs 15.55 crore which is lesser than Satyameva Jayate. (Rs 20.52 crore) but good enough to post a second highest opening film of John Abraham. There was a big drop on second day at the box office due to the normal working day, minting Rs 8.84 crore. The cop drama show a slight growth on Saturday with Rs 10.90 crore.
As per early estimates, Batla House showed another growth to Rs 14.27 crore and summing up the 4 days total to Rs 49.56 crore. The budget of Batla House is Rs 75 crore (Production Cost: Rs 60 Crore Prints & Advertising Cost: Rs 15 Crore)
