Akshay Kumar starrer Mission Mangal and John Abraham starrer Batla House performed very well in their respective second week at the box office.
We saw Mission Mangal on India’s successful mission to Mars conducted by ISRO. It stars Akshay Kumar, Vidya Balan, Sonakshi Sinha, Taapsee Pannu etc
Mission Mangal showed strong legs in the weekdays as it continues to perform at par and night become the highest grossing film of Akshay Kumar, defeating 2.0.
Mission Mangal opened to an excellent response and continued to perform well with a solid first extended week collection, minting a staggering Rs 128.16 crore. There was a holiday on second Friday owing to Janmasthami which helped Mission Mangal take advantage at the ticket window with Rs 7.83 crore. There was a very good growth on second Saturday with Rs 13.32 crore followed by Rs 15.30 crore on Sunday.
Mission Mangal showed a good hold on second Monday with Rs 3.87 crore followed by a slight drop on Tuesday with Rs 3.53 crore and Rs 3.28 crore on Wednesday. As per early estimates, the sci-fi drama collected Rs 3.11 crore on second Thursday, bringing the 15 days total to Rs 178.40 crore.
Mission Mangal is directed by Jagan Shakti and stars Viday Balan, Sonakshi Sinha, Sharman Joshi, Tapsee Pannu and Nithya Menen in key roles. Mission Mangal tells the true story of the journey of Indian scientist from Indian Space Research Organisation who made it possible for Mars Orbiter Mission (Mangalyaan), the first Indian space probe to be launched in Mars.

Batla House, inspite of clash, ensured to stay well above the ground on the week days at the box office.
Batla House has opened to a good response inspite of clashing with Mission Mangal and registered a nice collections with Rs 47.99 crore in its first extended week. Due to Janmasthami holiday in few parts of India, Batla House showed a slight growth on 2nd Friday with Rs 4.15 crore, Rs 6.83 crore on 2nd Saturday and Rs 7.21 on second Sunday. The action drama dropped on Monday with Rs 2.26 crores followed by another drop on Tuesday with Rs 2.08 crore, Rs 1.96 crore on Wednesday
As per early estimates, Batla House showed stability on Thursday with Rs 1.85 crore, bringing the 15 days total to Rs 91.89 crore.
Batla House stars John Abraham, Ravi Kishan, Mrunal Thakur and Nora Fatehi and is being directed by Nikhil Advani (Kal Ho Na Ho and D-Day).
Both Mission Mangal and Batla House will face the biggie, Saaho, from today. It will be interesting to see how the films will perform in the long extended weekend.
