Akshay Kumar starrer Mission Mangal and John Abraham starrer Batla House registered another growth on second weekend due to the absence of any major releases.
Mission Mangal is gaining momentum at the city multiplexes as the space-drama showed a very good growth on second Saturday followed by Sunday and became the second highest grossing film of Akshay Kumar.
Mission Mangal opened to an excellent response and continued to perform well with a solid first extended week collection, minting a staggering Rs 128.16 crore. There was a holiday on second Friday owing to Janmasthami which helped Mission Mangal take advantage at the ticket window with Rs 7.83 crore. There was a very good growth on second Saturday with Rs 13.32 crore.
Since there was no major competition this week, Mission Mangal showed yet electrifying growth. As per early estimates, the sci-fi drama collected Rs 15.71 crore, bringing the 11 days total to Rs 165.02 crore, becoming the 2nd highest grossing film of Akshay Kumar and 4th highest grossing film of 2019 defeating Hrithik Roshan starrer Super 30 (Rs 148 crore), Total Dhamaal (Rs 155 crores) and Kesari (Rs 155.50 crores). Mission Mangal has also crossed its budget of Rs 100 (Production Cost: Rs 32 Crore, Salary Cost: Rs 50 Crore, Prints & Advertising Cost: Rs 18 Crore).
Mission Mangal is directed by Jagan Shakti and stars Viday Balan, Sonakshi Sinha, Sharman Joshi, Tapsee Pannu and Nithya Menen in key roles. Mission Mangal tells the true story of the journey of Indian scientist from Indian Space Research Organisation who made it possible for Mars Orbiter Mission (Mangalyaan), the first Indian space probe to be launched in Mars.
While Batla House did not opened like Satyameva Jayate last year, it ensured to stay well above the ground on the week days at the box office. Looking at the way it is trending, Batla House might have crossed the lifetime collections of Satyameva Jayate (Rs 84.92 crore) today to become the highest grossing film of John Abraham.
Batla House has opened to a good response inspite of clashing with Mission Mangal and registered a nice collections with Rs 47.99 crore in its first extended week. Due to Janmasthami holiday in few parts of India, Batla House showed a slight growth on 2nd Friday with Rs 4.15 crore and Rs 6.83 crore on 2nd Saturday.
As per early estimates, the earnings of Batla House escalated with Rs 7.63 crore on second Sunday, bringing the 11 days total to Rs 84.20 crore and crossed its budget of Rs 75 crore (Production Cost: Rs 60 Crore Prints & Advertising Cost: Rs 15 Crore).
Batla House stars John Abraham, Ravi Kishan, Mrunal Thakur and Nora Fatehi and is being directed by Nikhil Advani (Kal Ho Na Ho and D-Day).
