Mission Mangal Vs Batla House Box Office Battle Day 9 – Both Films Grows On Janmasthami Holiday

Both Akshay Kumar starrer Mission Mangal and John Abraham starrer Batla House took advantage of the Janmasthami holiday on Friday and registered a good growth.

Due to the absence of any new releases, except for Angry Bird 2, Mission Mangal registered a good growth on its 9th day at the box office.

Mission Mangal opened to an excellent response and continued to perform well with a solid first extended week collection, minting a staggering Rs 128.16 crore.

There was a holiday on Friday owing to Janmasthami which helped Mission Mangal take advantage at the ticket window. As per early estimates, the sci-fi drama collected Rs 7.60 crore, bringing the 9 days total to Rs 135.76 crore and becoming the 3rd highest grossing film of Akshay Kumar defeating Toilet-Ek Prem Katha (Rs 134.20 crores).Mission Mangal has also crossed its budget of Rs 100 (Production Cost: Rs 32 Crore, Salary Cost: Rs 50 Crore, Prints & Advertising Cost: Rs 18 Crore) and will challenge Kesari to become the 2nd highest grossing film of Akshay Kumar.

Mission Mangal tells the true story of the journey of Indian scientist from Indian Space Research Organisation who made it possible for Mars Orbiter Mission (Mangalyaan), the first Indian space probe to be launched in Mars.

Batla House

While Batla House did not opened like Satyameva Jayate last year, it ensured to stay well above the ground on the week days at the box office.

Batla House has opened to a good response inspite of clashing with Mission Mangal and registered a nice collections with Rs 47.99 crore in its first extended week.

As per early estimates, Batla House showed slight growth due to Janmasthami holiday in few parts of India with Rs 4.15 crore and summing up the 9 days total to Rs 70 crore and will be crossing its budget of Rs 75 crore (Production Cost: Rs 60 Crore Prints & Advertising Cost: Rs 15 Crore)

Batla House stars John Abraham, Ravi Kishan, Mrunal Thakur and Nora Fatehi and is being directed by Nikhil Advani (Kal Ho Na Ho and D-Day).
