I adore my first cup of coffee in the morning. I think about it when I get into bed at night. Steaming hot, warming up my innards as it goes down the pipes. And I like lazing around as I cradle my mug, letting the morning gently unfold. But then the coffee cools off, and I get pissed off.
Lukewarm coffee just doesn’t do it for me.
And then I discovered the Mr. Coffee Mug Warmer. Sure, I knew mug warmers existed. But I never thought I’d actually pay money for one. However, after using one at my cousin’s house this summer, and learning that you can get a good one for 11 bucks, I’m hooked.
I write for a living, so I’m at my computer up to 10 hours a day. And thanks to this handy warmer, my coffee (and my Lady Grey tea, for days I’m feeling frisky), stays warm the entire time. It’s like my new best friend.
He’s a simple little guy, with just an on/off switch and an indicator light—and I appreciate its simplicity in this crazy day and age. It has a nice long cord, a surface that easily wipes clean and is tiny enough to fit in a carry-on. I’m going to bring it on vacation this winter. And yes that might sound a bit nuts but hey, call me crazy.
Now my kids use the mug warmer for their cocoa (even though I know they’d drink it ice-cold. I mean, it’s chocolate). It’s just fun to use and makes you feel like you’re doing something special for yourself. And if you put a cold cup of coffee on it, it’ll warm it up in less than two minutes. That’s good service.
I’m not the only one who finds this mug warmer soothing to the soul:
“It's going on a little over a year since I got this coffee warmer and I felt I needed to let everyone know that this is the best one I've gotten,” says a five-star Amazon fan. “I work 7am to 5pm and it’s on the entire time, five to six days a week. It keeps my tea at just the right temperature. Not scalding or room temperature like other warmers I've purchased. The 60-inch cord is long enough to go across my large desk. The hot plate is 3.25 inches in diameter, making it the right size for even my large bottomed coffee mug. The entire warmer is 5.2 by 8.6 inches, so it's not cumbersome sitting on my desk. This was a great purchase; I'm glad I got it.”
