Namrata Shirodkar pens emotional note for Vijaya Nirmala: You will be terribly missed
Namrata Shirodkar is devastated by the tragic demise of veteran actress-director G Vijaya Nirmala. The former actress, who is married to Vijaya Nirmala's stepson Mahesh Babu, took to social media to pen an emotional note for her.
"For me, she was a woman of substance... A woman I travelled with for 14 years of my married life... She was a warm, loving and caring soul... She was strong, brave, fun-loving and full of life! Her zest for life was uncompromised... She was a visionary and truly ahead of her time in her thoughts and deeds... This was Vijaya Nirmala garu for me!" the former actress wrote in an Instagram post.
"She was a pillar of strength for her family and her loved ones... Today I wish her a beautiful journey ahead and send her all the love and light I possibly can... You will be terribly missed, Vijaya Nirmala garu. It's truly unimaginable to know that I will never see you again. #RIPVijayaNirmalaGaru," she added.
Vijaya Nirmala passed away on Thursday (June 27) morning in Hyderabad. Her son, actor Naresh, shared the news on Twitter. "I regret to inform you that my mother, senior artiste, prominent producer and director Dr. G Vijaya Nirmala passed away during early hours today, that is, 27.6.2019, at Continental Hospitals, Hyderabad, due to sickness. She was 75," he wrote.
Vijaya Nirmala, who started her career as a child artiste, made her debut as a leading lady in the Telugu film industry with Rangula Ratnam. She ventured into direction with the Telugu film Meena, and has helmed 44 films in her lifetime.
Vijay Nirmala holds a Guinness Record for the most number of films directed by a female filmmaker. In 2008, she was bestowed with the Raghupathi Venkaiah Award for her contribution to Telugu cinema by the Andhra Pradesh government.
