Today is the National youth day also marked as the birth anniversary of Swami Vivekananda. On this day let us relive and revise his teaching that would help us create a piece of mind and a beautiful body and soul.

At the time, with the influence of western ideas, Vivekananda emphasized the importance of individual development.

Swami Vivekananda understood that three things are necessary to make every man great, every nation great

  1. Confidence of the powers of goodness;

  2. Extinction of jealousy and suspicion;

  3. Helping everyone who is trying to be and do good.

Swami Vivekananda proposed trying to give up jealousy and superiority and learn to work unitedly for others. He told that purity, patience and perseverance can overcome all obstacles. He also suggested to take courage and work on. According to Swami Vivekanda, Patience and smooth work, this is the only way to get success.

According to Swami Vivekananda “faith in ourselves and faith in God- this is the secret of greatness. Swami Vivekananda observed the history of the world is the history of a few men who had faith in themselves, and it is faith which calls out the divinity within. So he told if people have faith in three hundred and thirty millions of Hindu mythological gods, and in all the gods which foreigners have now and still have no faith in themselves, there will be no salvation.”

According to him, a soul is never born and will never die, and all the ideas that we are going to die and are afraid to die are mere superstitions. The universal Soul is infinite. The whole world is a body, and behind that is the universal mind, and behind that is the universal Soul. There is infinite life before the soul.

Therefore using the 3 important points given to us by Swami Vivekananda, starting today the national youth day we shall strive to be a better person with clear mind heart and soul.
