One of the finest actor of recent times, Nawazuddin Siddiqui, will next be seen in the Suparn Verma directed AATMA. The superb promos and especially Nawaz's chilling one liner- Main aa raha hoon beta (with stunning voice modulations), shows the class of the master actor.
While Nawaz rocked the nation with an award worthy act in GANGS OF WASSEYPUR II (as Manoj's son Faisal), he held his own against actors of the caliber of Vidya Balan (KAHAANI) and Aamir Khan (TALAASH). His popularity was to be seen to be believed during his recent visit to the prestigious academic institution, Aligarh Muslim University (AMU), where the audience/students carrying his posters, went wild at his appearance, crying out "Faisal, Faisal."
However, it is the upcoming AATMA (where just his presence sends chills down the spine), which may well turn out to be a defining moment in Nawaz's career, as a solo hero.
When we caught up with the unassuming Nawazuddin during his AMU visit, he was full of praise for his co-star Bipasha Basu and also the director Suparn Verma. He told us, "I am very particular about the kind of films I do. But said 'yes' to Suparn during the first narration itself, thanks to the great script."
When we conveyed the same to Suparn, he reciprocated the complement, saying, "Nawaazuddin is a fantastic actor, and above all a good human being. We hit it off the first time we met. He has put in a splendid performance in AATMA."
We couldn't agree more with both Suparn and Nawaz, and it is a given thing that AATMA is all set to possess the cinegoers, 22nd March onwards.
