Ashley Lobo to judge 'India's Dancing Superstar'

Indo Asian News Service

New Delhi, Feb 27 (IANS) Choreographer Ashley Lobo is set to make his small screen debut as the judge of a new dance reality show "India's Dance Superstar".

He says he was waiting for the right time and hopes the platform turns out to be worthy one for talented people across the country.

This is his first TV project but Lobo has been closely associated with the performing arts industry -- individually as well as through his dance company, the Danceworx, and Bollywood.

"Earlier, my focus was on a different direction. I'm now ready for a wider platform," Lobo told IANS.

"I was also drawn to the format of the show as it doesn't pigeonhole a specific dance form and everyone -- a single performer, duo or group -- can participate and showcase any dance form. Also, the show is about rewarding the dancer, not dance. So the feel of the show got me into it," he added.

"India's Dancing Superstar" will go on air on Star Plus.

Lobo, who is trained in classical ballet, jazz, funk and contemporary dance forms, will be joined on the judges panel by Geeta Kapoor of "Dance India Dance" fame.
