After milking franchises like RAAZ, JANNAT and MURDER, Bhatts are now putting a full stop to any more of their installments. Looking at reinventing the kind of films they make and catering to a much more universal audience, it is time for Mahesh Bhatt and Mukesh Bhatt to say goodbye to erotica for good.
"We have squeezed that juice out and now it is time to bring on new kind of cinema. We have to cater to a larger constituency now and bring on universal audience," Mahesh Bhatt admits in a candid tone, "Yes, erotica has given us good successes and also an economic muscle and clout. Now we have to move on to the next phase and do what we did in the cinema of the 90s. We have to go back in the past to leapfrog into the future."
First step in this direction is AASHQIUI 2 which would be the last of the franchise films coming from Vishesh Films. Moreover, with the film, Bhatts along with director Mohit Suri are aspiring for the tide to change w.r.t. position of Vishesh Films, which otherwise has been known for his horror and erotic affairs.
"Also, Vishesh (who last made MURDER 3) would be making a U and a U/A film next. Other filmmakers associated with us would be with us too while ushering to a new phase. It is a full stop to the kind of cinema that we have made till MURDER 3," announces Bhatt.
Meanwhile Pooja Bhatt is carrying on with JISM 3, which by the way is an independent affair and doesn't bear any association with Vishesh Films. While the film would carry mature adult content, it would be interesting to see if she too follows her father's lead and begin a new game post it's making and release.
