This Friday can be considered a week of comebacks! Yes, it will not only be former 'superstarni' Sridevi with ENGLISH VINGLISH but the highly talented Vivek Oberoi in a totally new 'avatar' with KISMET LOVE PAISA DILLI. However, both the new releases will have to face a stiff competition from the still very strong OMG OH MY GOD!
Last week saw the release of Akshay Kumar's Paresh Rawal starrer OMG OH MY GOD! and Priyadarshan's KAMAAL DHAMAAL MALAMAAL. While not much can be said about the poor opening and outcome of KDM, OMG OH MY GOD!, which started on a dull note, saw a magical turnaround in its fortune as the film witnessed amazing collections even during the normally weak weekdays. The film is also doing quite well in the overseas (without even releasing in UAE!) grossing and#163;145,500 from UK and $ 340,000 from the US during the opening weekend (28-30 September). As things stand, the reasonably budgeted and sold OMG! is sure to be Akshay Kumar's third hit of the year, this time as a producer and also as an actor in an extended cameo.
After a decent opening weekend, Madhur Bhandarkar's 32 crore (all inclusive cost) Kareena Kapoor starrer, HEROINE, saw low end returns during the weekdays as the film collected 3.65 crore from Bombay (collections from other cinemas unreceived), 95.50 lakhs from Ahmedabad, 22.25 lakhs from Baroda (collections from 7 cinemas unreceived), 12.75 lakhs from Rajkot, 70 lakhs from Pune, 16.20 lakhs from Nasik, 9 lakhs from Goa, 5.35 lakhs from Belgaum, 4 crore from Delhi city, 45.65 lakhs from Noida, 31.20 lakhs from Ghaziabad, 22.35 lakhs from Kanpur, 40 lakhs from Lucknow, 11 lakhs from Agra, 10.20 lakhs from Allahabad, 4.50 lakhs from Meerut, 62 lakhs from Gurgaon, 9 lakhs from Faridabad, 4.20 lakhs from Kurukshetra, 6.35 lakhs from Panipat, 19 lakhs from Chandigarh, 21.35 lakhs from Jalandhar, 4.75 lakhs from Amritsar, , 4.65 lakhs from Ludhiana, 3.35 lakhs from Bhatinda, 3.50 lakhs from Ambala, 4 lakhs from Jammu, 1 crore from Calcutta, 1 lakh from Darjeeling, 6 lakhs from Siliguri, 3 lakhs from Dhanbad, 5.75 lakhs from Guwahati, 30 lakhs from Nagpur, 17.50 lakhs from Raipur, 32 lakhs from Indore (collections from 4 cinemas unreceived), 6.35 lakhs from Gwalior (collections from 5 cinemas unreceived), 15.75 lakhs from Bhopal (collections from 4 cinemas unreceived), 50 lakhs from Jaipur (collections from 4 cinemas unreceived), 2.75 lakhs from Jodhpur (collections from 4 cinemas unreceived), 6.50 lakhs from Ajmer, 4.50 lakhs from Bikaner, 13.35 lakhs from Kota, 90 lakhs from Hyderabad, 15 lakhs from Aurangabad, 75 lakhs from Bangalore, 2.65 lakhs from Vijayawada, 5 lakhs from Visakhapatnam, 6.65 lakhs from Madras and 4 lakhs from Kochi. Netting 31 crore during the opening week from India (and the way the film has crashed in second week), HEROINE can at the best be rated as a below average fare. As opposed to India, HEROINE has done quite well in the overseas (good in the US) grossing and#163;271,600 from UK and $560,300 from the US till the second weekend (28-30 September).
Just as was expected, even in the second week Ranbir's BARFI! made the life of Kareena's HEROINE miserable with a great performance and a rock steady run collecting 3.60 crore from Bombay (collections from other cinemas unreceived), 65.50 lakhs from Ahmedabad, 23.50 lakhs from Baroda (collections from 6 cinemas unreceived), 11.25 lakhs from Rajkot, 90 lakhs from Pune, 15.75 lakhs from Nasik, 12.20 lakhs from Goa, 5 lakhs from Belgaum, 3.50 crore from Delhi city, 44 lakhs from Noida, 30 lakhs from Ghaziabad, 15.50 lakhs from Kanpur, 30.85 lakhs from Lucknow, 9 lakhs from Agra, 8 lakhs from Allahabad, 2 lakhs from Meerut, 1.20 lakhs from Aligarh, 70 lakhs from Gurgaon, 10 lakhs from Faridabad, 3 lakhs from Kurukshetra, 3.75 lakhs from Panipat, 20 lakhs from Chandigarh, 17.75 lakhs from Jalandhar, 4.50 lakhs from Amritsar, 3 lakhs from Ludhiana, 3.25 lakhs from Bhatinda, 3.50 lakhs from Ambala, 2.35 lakhs from Jammu, 1.35 crore from Calcutta, 5 lakh from Darjeeling, 12.25 lakhs from Siliguri, 4 lakhs from Dhanbad, 6.65 lakhs from Guwahati, 30 lakhs from Nagpur, 15 lakhs from Raipur, 27 lakhs from Indore, 6.50 lakhs from Gwalior (collections from 2 cinemas unreceived), 20 lakhs from Bhopal, 60 lakhs from Jaipur, 3.20 lakhs from Jodhpur (collections from 3 cinemas unreceived), 6 lakhs from Ajmer, 4.50 lakhs from Bikaner, 10 lakhs from Kota, 45 lakhs from Hyderabad (collections from other cinemas unreceived), 10 lakhs from Aurangabad, 1.50 crore from Bangalore, 2 lakhs from Vijayawada, 5.50 lakhs from Visakhapatnam, 10.65 lakhs from Madras and 6 lakhs from Kochi. With another 24 crores BARFI has netted a superb 81 crores in two weeks from India and is a super duper hit. The Anurag Basu directed film has notched up amazing numbers from the overseas (especially US) grossing and#163;622,000 from UK and $2,462,000 from the US till the third weekend (28-30 September).
Concluding with Vikram Bhatt's Bipasha-Emraan starrer, RAAZ 3, after a highly successful run, the film is now ready to leave the cinemas as it collected 15 lakhs from Bombay (collections from other cinemas unreceived), 6.50 lakhs from Ahmedabad, 1 lakh from Baroda (collections from 3 cinemas unreceived), 1.50 lakhs from Pune, 1.50 lakhs from Nasik, 15 lakhs from Delhi city, 3.50 lakhs from Noida, 2.50 lakhs from Ghaziabad, 4.50 lakhs from Kanpur, 8 lakhs from Lucknow, 2 lakhs from Agra, 1.55 lakhs from Allahabad, 1.55 lakhs from Gurgaon, 2.50 lakhs from Chandigarh, 2.50 lakhs from Jalandhar, 2.55 lakhs from Calcutta, 4.50 lakhs from Nagpur, 2.65 lakhs from Raipur, 2 lakhs from Indore, 4.50 lakhs from Jaipur (collections from 4 cinemas unreceived), 1 lakh from Ajmer, 9 lakhs from Hyderabad, 2 lakhs from Aurangabad, 3 lakhs from Bangalore and 1 lakh from Madras. With 2.25 crores more, RAAZ 3 has netted a great 71.75 crores in three weeks from India and is a blockbuster, keeping the reasonable costs and the handsome non-theatrical rights in mind. The film has also done decently in the overseas (given the cost and cast) grossing and#163; 201,500 from UK till the fourth weekend (28-30 September) and $150,750 from the US.
