Bollywood Box-Office Report Of The Week

This Friday will see the next offering from the iconic 3 IDIOTS's team of Rajkumar Hirani and Aamir Khan. The film in question is obviously PK. Having said that, it is quite obvious that the expectations and buzz of PK is huge but not humongous like 3 IDIOTS. And so, to expect that PK will surpass or even equal the record shattering performance of 3 IDIOTS will be unfair. Still, PK is all set to recalibrate many domestic and overseas records.

Meanwhile, last Friday's main releases-MAIN AUR MR. RIIGHT, BADLAPUR BOYS, ROOM-THE MYSTERY, LUV....PHIR KABHI - are expected washouts. The best performance came from Rajnikanth's LINGAA (Telugu version), even in the Hindi speaking areas.

Moving on , after a fair opening day, the Prabhu Dheva directed ACTION JACKSON could not up the ante as it collected 3.75 crore from Bombay (collections from other cinemas unreceived), 1.50 crore from Ahmedabad, 42.75 lakhs from Surat, 25 lakhs from Baroda (collections from 6 cinemas unreceived), 55 lakhs from Rajkot, 90 lakhs from Pune, 17.50 lakhs from Nasik, 8.50 lakhs from Goa, 5.15 lakhs from Belgaum, 2.75 crore from Delhi city, 35 lakhs from Noida, 46.20 lakhs from Ghaziabad, 33 lakhs from Kanpur, 50.65 lakhs from Lucknow, 5.15 lakhs from Agra, 15.25 lakhs from Allahabad, 10.50 lakhs from Dehradun, 40 lakhs from Gurgaon, 10.20 lakhs from Faridabad, 6.50 lakhs from Panipat, 18 lakhs from Chandigarh, 12 lakhs from Jalandhar, 10.25 lakhs from Amritsar, 11.50 lakhs from Ludhiana, 5.25 lakhs from Bhatinda, 4 lakhs from Jammu, 55 lakhs from Calcutta, 1.50 lakhs from Darjeeling, 8 lakhs from Siliguri, 7.50 lakhs from Dhanbad, 5 lakhs from Ranchi, 7.55 lakhs from Bhubaneshwar, 3 lakhs from Guwahati, 45 lakhs from Nagpur, 20.15 lakhs from Jabalpur, 29.50 lakhs from Raipur, 70 lakhs from Indore, 8 lakhs from Gwalior (collections from 5 cinemas unreceived), 30 lakhs from Bhopal (collections from 5 cinemas unreceived), 91 lakhs from Jaipur (collections from 8 cinemas unreceived), 38 lakhs from Jodhpur, 14 lakhs from Ajmer, 4.25 lakhs from Bikaner, 19 lakhs from Kota, 13.55 lakhs from Udaipur, 1.50 crore from Hyderabad, 15 lakhs from Aurangabad (collections from 4 cinemas unreceived), 56.65 lakhs from Bangalore, 7 lakhs from Mangalore, 2.55 lakhs from Vijayawada, 5.50 lakhs from Visakhapatnam, 5 lakhs from Madras, 1 lakh from Coimbatore and 4.25 lakhs from Kochi. ACTION JACKSON has netted nearly 46 crore during the opening week from India. Though ACTION JACKSON has managed a good price from the satellite rights, given the total investment of around 100 crore (to make promote and release), it will struggle for recovery. The film has been rejected in the overseas grossing and#163;95,000 from UK and $235,000 from the US, till the second weekend (12-14 December).

Concluding with Dharma Productions' UNGLI, after a poor opening week the film crashed in the second collecting 10 lakhs from Bombay (collections from other cinemas unreceived), 2.50 lakhs from Ahmedabad, 2 lakhs from Surat, 2.50 lakhs from Pune, 5 lakhs from Delhi city, 2 lakhs from Noida, 2 lakhs from Ghaziabad, 1 lakh from Lucknow, 1 lakh from Gurgaon, 1.15 lakhs from Chandigarh, 5 lakhs from Calcutta, 1.55 lakhs from Raipur, 1.50 lakhs from Indore, 5 lakhs from Hyderabad and 2.50 lakhs from Bangalore. Adding another 75 lakhs UNGLI has netted 15.75 crore in two weeks from India and is a box-office debacle.
