Bollywood Stalwarts Come Together For 'Apna Bombay Talkies'

We had recently reported that Bollywood actors Aamir Khan and Shah Rukh Khan will be sharing screen space in the upcoming film Bombay Talkies. The movie is a tribute to the Indian cinema, which celebrates its centenary this year, and Aamir and SRK will be coming together for a special song in the movie.

However, 'Mr. Perfectionist' and 'King Khan' are not the only two Bollywood biggies, who'll get featured in this song. The number, titled Apna Bombay Talkies will bring together 20 industry stalwarts. Apna Bombay Talkiealso stars Saif Ali Khan, Kareena Kapoor, Vidya Balan, Rani Mukerji, Farhan Akhtar, Shahid Kapoor, Priyanka Chopra, Ranveer Singh, Ranbir Kapoor, Imran Khan, Sonam Kapoor, Deepika Padukone, Madhuri Dixit, Anil Kapoor, Sridevi, Akshay Kumar, Karisma Kapoor and Juhi Chawla.

And if this wasn't enough, we have some great news for music lovers too, over 20 singers have lent their voices for the song. “For the first time, 20 singers will be a part of the same song. The title track has been sung by some of the most reputed singers in the industry. And the interesting part about this is that the singers have recorded for those actors whom they generally do the playback singing for in their movies,” a source reveals.

Prominent singers like Sunidhi Chauhan, Shaan, Kavita Krishnamurthy, S. P. Balasubramaniam, Abhijeet, Kumar Sanu, Alka Yagnik, Mohit Chauhan, Sonu Nigam, Sudesh Bhosle, Shreya Ghoshal, Shilpa Rao, Udit Narayan, KK and Sukhwinder Singh have been roped in for the song.

“Vaibhavi Merchant has beautifully choreographed this number. There was a strict dress code for all the actors. All the men had to wear black tuxedos and the women wore gold outfits, designed by their own stylists. The song took over a month to be shot entirely as all the actors have independently shot for their parts,” our source concludes.

'Bombay Talkies' is a collection of four short stories, which have been helmed by Karan Johar, Anurag Kashyap, Zoya Akhtar and Dibakar Banerjee. The film, which is a tribute to our Indian cinema, stars Rani Mukerji, Randeep Hooda, Nawazuddin Siddiqui, Saqib Saleem, Amitabh Bachchan and Katrina Kaif among others and is slated to release on May 3, 2013.
