Though Chitrangda Singh has a good part to play in I, ME AUR MAIN and that too as a female lead opposite John Abraham, it wasn't an easy call for the makers to rope her in. From the time the film was initially pitched to her to the day when she eventually said yes, it required a good two months for director Kapil Sharma to bring her on board. Moreover, there was also some bit of re-writing that was required for her part before Chitrangda was convinced that she would be able to throw weight to the proceedings.

"Yes, there was a little bit of back and forth," says first time director Kapil, "She is a thinking actor and questions a lot about the character that she has to enact on screen. What is good is that these questions are valid. There were some touches that were required to be given to the character and we worked around that without really changing the core essence of the part that she had to play. All of that helped her get further convinced about stepping into the film."

He insists though that not much should be read between the words here.

"See, when a character has already been written, you do tweak it around a little so that it suits the personality of the actor who has come on board. That only helps in building further connect," he says.

Meanwhile Kapil also focused a lot on Chitrangda's overall styling for the film. "We have tried not do overdo anything just so that she could get into a glam space. Instead we have utilised the space of the character which is that or an urban, young, independent woman. We have placed her in a little more naturalist environment."

Well, given the fact that Chitrangda was recently seen in INKAAR, it would be interesting to check out how different does it all turn out to be in I, ME AUR MAIN.
