Ford Mustang Heading Back Down Under in 2016

Jeff Perez

Let the global Mustang onslaught begin. In preparation of a lighter, sportier pony car, reports recently suggested that a new and improved right-hand drive Mustang will be heading back to Australia for the first time in over five decades.

The only problem is, it won’t come cheap. While we know the global Mustang will sport a 4-cylinder and V6 in most major markets worldwide, Australia’s own Herald Sun tells us they might only be able to grab hold of a hopped up “V8 performance model” (most likely without a Shelby nameplate) for somewhere around $50K.

As for now, these rumors seem pretty on-point with Ford’s new global strategy, but we won’t know for certain until the Mustang takes the stage at next year’s New York Auto Show.
