Julianne Hough became a 'dark person' following abusive childhood

London, January 4 (ANI): A Hollywood actress has claimed that she was 'mentally and physically' abused after joining a top London dance school at the age of ten.

Julianne Hough said her torment began soon after winning a dance scholarship to the prestigious Italia Conti Academy of Theatre Arts, where previous pupils include Naomi Campbell, Kelly Brook, Patsy Kensit, Tracey Ullman and Russell Brand.

Miss Hough said she suffered at the hands of adults who were supposed to protect her when she came to London from America.

However, the Italia Conti Academy insists Miss Hough was not abused by anybody at the school, which the actress has previously described as being a 'safe place' in interviews, the Daily Mail reported.

Miss Hough told of her alleged ordeal in Cosmopolitan magazine, while talking about her latest film, Safe Haven, the story of a girl who is subjected to horrific abuse by an ex-boyfriend.

"While I was in London, I was abused - mentally, physically, everything,' she said.

"I was ten years old, looking like I was 28, being a very sensual dancer.

"I was a tormented little kid who had to put on this sexy facade because that was my job and my life. But my heart was the same, and I was this innocent little girl. I wanted so much love.'

Miss Hough, who spent five years at the academy, claims that the experience made her a "dark person".

"I've been through certain things that have sucked the life out of me, and just the light about me was gone," Hough said, "I was just a dark person." (ANI)
