Kalki Koechlin hasn't acted in a horror film before. However when she indeed decided to step into one, she wanted to be really sure about that. This is where EK THI DAAYAN came into picture where more than just the scare quotient, an intrigue element that came into play too.
"What I really liked about the film is the fact that it is not one of those typical bloody horror films. It is more of a psychological thriller," says Kalki. "The film has an element of someone finding out about his past and then trying to understand whether this past is true or if it is his imagination. It is in that space where you begin to question yourself," she adds.
However in this tale about understanding one's past, Kalki instantly clarifies that the Emraan Hashmi starrer does not transcend boundaries or step into different time periods.
"We are not going back into past lives. By no means are we travelling centuries. And yes, we are not telling any 'punarjanam' tales either," she laughs.
One has good reasons to believe that the lure of working in her first ever supernatural film made Kalki sign ETD.
"It is always the script that makes me choose a film. In any case, if you look around, there are many supernatural films being made with not such a strong script. This is where EK THI DAAYAN scores because it is a very loveable story, which again is a kind that is easy to understand. Moreover, one can relate to it since it could happen to anyone."
For that, we would like to see the action unfold once this Balaji film, with Kannan Iyer as the director, releases all over on 18th April 2013.
