Kalki may be enjoying the perks of being a part of a full on candy floss commercial affair like YEH JAWAANI HAI DEEWANI and juggling it all with the mystery element or EK THI DAAYAN. However her heart still lies in doing films that are 'different' in the true sense. One such film is MARGARITA, WITH A STRAW, shooting of which begins next week in Delhi. The biggest challenge that Kalki faces is to play a young woman who comes with the condition of cerebral palsy.
"The film is being by Shonali Bose who has earlier made critically acclaimed AMU with Konkona Sen Sharma. Kalki plays a girl called Laila who falls repeatedly in love, yearns to have sex and wants to be a Bollywood songwriter. She is a brilliant mind trapped in a disobedient body due to her condition," informs a source.
For Kalki, the film is all set to be a physically challenging affair as well since she would be wheel chair bound for its entire duration.
Confirms Kalki, "Yes, I am doing the film. It is a very small arty alternative film. Still, it does require a lot of rehearsals and workshops. I would also be getting a full time trainer who would help me understand how a person with cerebral palsy talk and what would be her body language. I can already see this film turning out to be a really consuming me."
Meanwhile we would love to know what exactly does a title like MARGARITA, WITH A STRAW signifies.
