In the coming weeks, cine-goers of Kerala will feast on the floral extravaganza of Patiala.

‘Mallu Singh’ goes to the people with the singular fame of being shot almost exclusively in Punjab. 47 days in Punjab supplemented with eight days of flashback scenes shot in Ottappalam completes the film.

Pokkiri Raja and Seniors has earned a creditable name to director Vaisakh, and hence people look forward to his next venture with a lot of hope for real entertainment. In Mallu Singh, he tells the tale of Anikkuttan (Kunchako Boban) and his associates who are on the streets of Punjab in search of his cousin who has been missing for years.

The ocean of flowers in the heartland of India transcends the elegance of the vast Tulip fields of Switzerland, says Vaisakh and cameraman Shaji. Many Indian film directors including the gifted Tamil director Shankar have flown out to Switzerland to capture the charm of Tulip gardens. Here is something of greater charm, vouches Mallu Singh crew.

The flowers of these Patiala villages never reach the flower markets; they are for extracting seeds. That vindicates their being best in class. Let’s hope for some visual exuberance; and scenes that captivate your soul. Screenplay by Sethu (of Sachi-Sethu duo), Songs by Rajiv Aalunkal and Murukan Kattakkada, and music by M.Jayachandran adds to the expectations.
