Japanese luxury automaker Lexus has debuted an all-new concept seeking out the possibility of a futuristic compact crossover. The LF-NX is a high-riding compact crossover with extreme styling and an advanced powertrain under its sculpted hood.
According to Lexus, the LF-NX is the latest interpretation of the brand’s L-finesse design language, albeit applied to an urban-driving crossover. Sculpted fenders are fitted with a protective black coating at the wheel well, underscoring the concept’s intended capability. Meanwhile the entire vehicle has been painted in a new “Brushed Metal Silver” exterior color, which Lexus claims: “gives the striking impression that the bodyshell has been carved from a single piece of solid metal.”
Under the hood sits a new version of the automakers’ hybrid powertrain, though little detail has been given, other than to say it has been “tuned for SUV performance.”
Inside, the LF-NX features a striking interior, with a new version of Lexus Remote Touch. Rather than a movable controller, the new system features a touch pad interface. Which elements of this concept make it to production vehicles remains to be seen, but you can check this concept out at the Frankfurt Motor Show, September 10.
