The controversy over Telugu film Denikaina Ready continues with the hero Manchu Vishnu filing a petition against Brahmin associations in a court in Hyderabad on Thursday. Vishnu, son of actor Mohan Babu, filed a petition seeking action against the associations, which had allegedly performed ‘last rites’ ( pinda pradanam ) to him and his father. The associations’ act had hurt their and fans’ sentiments badly, Vishnu told the court. Vishnu deposed before the Third Additional Chief Metropolitan Magistrate and said the film was released after securing certification from the Censor Board. The film had won appreciation of all sections of film goers and was running successfully since then. But, a few Brahmin associations had raked up controversy stating that a few scenes in the film were hurting their sentiments, the actor explained. The judge postponed the case to December 7. When the actor was speaking to reporters outside the court premises after filing his petition, representatives of Brahmin associations emerged there and staged a lightening protest blocking the vehicular traffic on the road in front of the court premises. They raised slogans against the actor and his father and demanded that the film be banned. Tension prevailed for few moments as the protestors obstructed the way of his car but the police intervened in time and dispersed them to give way to the actor to leave the place.
