London, May 03 (ANI): Reese Witherspoon has been charged with disorderly conduct after becoming embroiled in a row with cops, who had pulled over her hubby Jim Toth on suspicion of drink-driving in Atlanta, Georgia.
Witherspoon's lawyer entered a no contest plea on his Hollywood client's behalf on Thursday and the Oscar-winner was ordered to pay around 130 pounds to settle the case, the Sun reported.
The 37-year-old's husband was spared jail time after pleading guilty to the DUI charge but was sentenced to 40 hours of community service and 12 months probation.
The talent agent was also ordered to complete an alcohol education programme.
The judge told Toth that: "Consider yourself fortunate you didn't injure your passenger (Reese) and didn't kill anyone."
During Witherspoon's alcohol-fuelled altercation with police, the actress claimed that she was pregnant and accused the arresting officer of harassment.
She also warned the cop, saying "You'd better not arrest me."
The actress later admitted that she was "deeply embarrassed" about the incident and insisted she has "nothing but respect for the police".
On US TV recently, she blamed her bad behaviour on booze.
"It was one of those nights, we went out to dinner in Atlanta and we had one too many glasses of wine. We thought we were fine to drive and we absolutely were not... I had no idea what I was saying that night," she said.
"I saw him (police officer) arresting my husband and I literally panicked. I said all kinds of crazy things. I told him I was pregnant. I'm not pregnant. I said crazy things," Witherspoon said.
The American actress added that she had no idea what she was talking about and acknowledged that she was disrespectful to the cop. (ANI)
