Without trying to sound monotonous and repetitive, we have to say that just as expected and predicted, this week's new release, the Abbas-Mustan directed, RACE 2, has set the box-office on fire, with a superb performance. After a big first day, in the range of 15 crore (approx), RACE 2 picked up further on Republic day, and finally ended the weekend netting in excess of 46-47 crore (to be validated) from India, both new records for Saif Ali Khan.
As things stand RACE 2 is all set to be Saif Ali Khan's biggest grosser beating the final total of COCKTAIL. But for the other lead actor, John Abraham, beating the record of his HOUSEFULL 2 (112 crore) looks difficult if not impossible. All said and done, RACE 2 looks sure to be the year's first major success.
Meanwhile, after a dull opening day (1.60 crore), Sudhir Mishra's Arjun Rampal and Chitrangda Singh starrer, INKAAR, failed to show any significant growth during the next two days, netting around 8.50 crore during the opening week from India, and will be lucky to break even, even after accounting for the non-theatrical rights.
The other two releases of the week, Sachiin Joshi's MUMBAI MIRROR and Aditya Om's BANDOOK, are debacle and disaster, respectively.
