Earlier, it had been reported that Bollywood actor Sanjay Dutt, who recently surrendered in court following his Arms Act conviction, would be shifted to either the Yerawada Jail in Pune or to another jail in Nasik.
However, the actor is still lodged in Arthur Road jail and it seems the authorities have not yet taken a call about where or when to move him. Additional Director General of Police (Prisons) Meera Borwankar said that it would take some time before a decision is arrived at and that till then, Sanjay will be kept in the Arthur Road jail. It seems that the delay is because information is still being gathered on the number of convicts, security conditions and inmates linked to the underworld in various jails in the state like Taloja (Navi Mumbai), Yerwada (Pune), Thane, Nagpur and Nashik.
Sanjay Dutt was convicted for possessing illegal weapons that were part of the consignment used in the 1993 serial blasts.
