Bollywood seems to be on a ‘remake overdrive’ and the latest news in this regard is that producer Sunil Bohra has bought the remake rights to Gulzar’s 1971 directorial debut Mere Apne, which had starred Vinod Khanna and Shatrughan Sinha.
Sources claim that Bohra paid a whopping sum of Rs. 1 crore to the film’s original producers Romu and Raj Sippy. Confirming the news, Bohra was quoted saying that the amount that he has paid is a very small one as he thinks the film is priceless. On his part, Raj Sippy was quoted saying that he liked the way Bohra approached him and Romu, which sealed the deal.
Though the cast has not been finalized yet, rumours are that actors Ranbir Kapoor and Imran Khan might be roped in for the remake.
